“Had” a friend, eh? :(
Hmm. To be fair, well, ‘had’ is used for when you lose touch with said friend, as well, but given what we’re privy to…
Young Dalton is really adorable!
Typo: “He used to teach me a lot about in school.”
I like that Olivia has a reason to like Dalton so much when the other students don’t. It kind of seemed weird to me before that she loved him so much (and by extent we were supposed to). Not saying that this kind of close student-teacher thing doesn’t happen, just that it seemed weird that Olivia chose Dalton specifically. Now it kind of makes sense – Olivia got close to him at a young age when there weren’t really any other music teachers competing (successfully) for her attention, and that gave her a chance to see he was pretty good. John probably tagged along for a while since he liked Olivia, and that gave him a chance to like Dalton too.
I’m not entirely sure what Olivia is giggling about in the last panel. Dalton must have just said that in a really really funny way.
Thanks for the head’s up. Fixed it!
Pretty much right. Though John began to like Dalton over the course of the year regardless of him liking Olivia. As we’ve seen 2-3 times, Dalton was very helpful and encouraging to John in terms of helping him improve at trombone, and realizing that he was an important part of the ensemble even if he isn’t the “best.” Plus, John’s too nice and generally-optimistic to find Dalton annoying or “uncool” like the rest of the class.
